There is a boy at work called Michael who is so much like Daniel that it's eerie. He was discussing a stupid caller last week, and it was if I'd just stepped back in time to my work at TMC on Saturday nights. He had the same speech patterns, everything. I feel so at home at work. There are several people there who I feel as if I've known them for years. I'll be quite sad when Friday rolls around and I shan't work there any more. Won't miss the conservative clothes I wear, nor the hours I have to keep, though.

I wanted Nightcrawler (I keep mistyping Night as Nicht...) icons, but now lots of people have them, it's not so cool anymore. And I can't find any good photos. At all. Ideally I'd love an icon with his angelic symbols. Much!love for Alan Cumming. Seen a tiny bit of comic!Nightcrawler, and he seems to lack the cool Boho spiritual madness that I loved best about movie!Nightcrawler. Sara says she may lend me an X Men comic if I'm lucky (and if I remember correctly), so we'll see. By the way, sweeting, I have your Gundam Wing mangas. They were carefully hidden away safely and are currently residing on one of my shelves...but I can't tell which one because I'm not wearing my glasses.

Nat's started an H/D fic, and she sent it to me. I rather extensively picked at language and sentence structure, because I love it, and that's what I do. I hope she doesn't take it personally. I loff her to bits.

Um. I went to see X Men on Saturday, then I went to the Marshalls', then I had Issy's housewarming party. I learnt to fire twirl, sort of. I'm not brilliant, and I keep wanting to twirl it with my fingers, as my aunt taught me to do years ago (she used to do baton twirling). Fire twirling seems to be mostly in the wrist.

The best part is when it's freshly lit, and you throw it horizonally upwards, and you get fireballs from all the excess kerosene.

I need to get Wendy's new album out of my head, or I'll start hating it. It's starting to reach saturation point.

Finally, kudos to those callers phoning for Adam today who were polite and reasonable. Yes, I know he was supposed to be in today, but he was sick. I know he wasn't in Friday; he had a Rostered Day Off. I know he's The Boy Who Doesn't Return Calls. Thank you for being patient, and realising that angsting at me will solve none of your problems.

The ones who weren't, and you know who you are: you were all before 9.30, if I recall correctly. At least one of you called before nine. To those who were rude and filled with vitriol: may you get an unspecified rash in your groinal region that doesn't clear up with topical cream.

I lied. I have one more thing to say, at least.

I caught a small part of a remake of Annie (that awful musical) the other day. (Must've been Friday, if I recall correctly.) It made me realise my deep affection for the original; the remade Annie was insipid, with none of the life nor sass of the original, and the plump Miss Cunningham (is that her name? the orphan woman) wasn't as drunk and degenerate as the original. She had none of that coked-up flapper charm of the skinny original. The only good thing about the remake was Alan Cumming, who played Rooster. Rooster was played in the original by Tim Curry, who also rocks. I watched the whole of Easy Street, and I think there was better choreography (and use of the stairs) in the original. I like the vapid girl's clothing better in the original, too.

My sheer knowledge of this musical both astounds and frightens me. I had no idea I had thought about it in this much detail.

Hmm. Maybe I could have drunken!Miss Cunningham icons... hehe...she amuses me. I seem to recall her drinking gin while having a bath in the original fillum. Anyone else remember this?

[edit: her name was Miss Hannigan. So. Now I must have drunken!Miss Hannigan icons. I just need some screenshots...]

I prefer the original even though the remade version sticks more closely to the original plot. I do remember the bath thing - she was running a back and pouring gin into it at one point, while singing at Mr Warbucks. And drinking constantly besides.
Also have to agree that the original Easy Street choreography was much better. As was Hard Knock Life, actually, since they had SO many more orphans and they were doing much more interesting things.
Annie was my favourite movie for years and years and years..

Well, it really depends on what issues of X-men you read about Nightcrawler, but he has always been a fairly religious character. Movie!Nightcrawler actually reminded me alot of cartoon!Nightcrawler. Mmm Nightcrawler. <3

i think you must have been watching annie not last sunday, but the one before. they've brought back sunday disney (remember it from when we were kids? i used to love it. now only when they've got something good on).

it was one when i got back from the grampians... i then buggered off again. i like some of the songs in it, but the general annie thing... let's just say that i put down watching annie over and over for an eternity was the idea i put forward for hell (actually the area in hades when tantulus and the others went. wassis name). and got unanimous aggreement from the entire class. and a lot of THEM didn't like me.

I'm slightly over Annie after having performed it for a school musical. But don't get me wrong I'd probably watch the "Tim Curry" version if they ever played it on TV again.

But in my opinion the best version of Annie that I've seen was when Suzanne (our bass player)...played Mr Warbucks. That was probably the most fun version of Easy Street as well :P

[that's when Nat and I named her Stevie. Our drama teacher told her she needed to act more manly!]

Oh, I realise he was religious; I saw pictures of him in a cleric's collar. However: movie Nightcrawler's all boho, and not buff.

Naw, I have the Disney channel. It was on a Friday night.

I like Rooster. And Miss Hannigan. The rest is icky.

I don't like Annie. It's noxious. I just like Tim Curry and drunken Miss Hannigan.

I AGREE! I only saw about ten minutes of the remake, and it's just wrong.

Yeh, I read that the original movie deviated. *shrugs* I didn't see HKL. Tuned in far too late, I think.

My fave musical for years was Phantom. :)

Fire twirling doesn't have to be just in the wrist, I have been busking fire shows since about January 2000 and some of the best tricks I have seen done involve finger rolls. One guy I know who does one handed throwing and catching with pretty quick finger rolling in there is just the most impressive I have seen in a long time...

The basics that are generally taught involve things like Figure 8s, Reverse same, hand passes etc, which are all pretty much wrist and shoulder based tricks for sure but alot of the better technical tricks require some pretty decent finger control.

This is not the circus freak you want, he is just a decoy.
