1) Note to self: do NOT get on Trillian at 2am. You need your sleep.

2) Ended up getting Zan's email, for those who care. It made me happy. We had an hour and a half wait to see GUD UGH tonight, so I brought a notebook and have composed the reply already. I feel so virtuous.

3) I just realised: I passed my history unit on English Revolutions, but know little more than the fact that Oliver Cromwell was involved, and there were debates at Putney. I think I skipped a few too many lectures. Um.

4) Paul McDermott and Cameron (surname?) and Mick Moriarty went crowd-surfing-racing. Mick won. Paul went crowdsurfing over my part of the audience. I have now been more intimate with Paul's leg than most of you can claim. So neener.

5) Paul/Cameron is so my new OTP.

6) There is NO rule 6.

7) Why the hell is a society in support of transvestism and transgenderism called the Seahorse Society? Can someone explain this to me? I have a feeling someone did after last GUD's last show at the Fringe Festival, but I no longer remember if so.

8) Still sick. Plbbt. Looked stunning tonight, though. Like a groovy Merry Widow.

9) I smashed the right front headlight and indicator light thingie on a tree. Obviously bad idea to drive when sick. Still amazed I managed to get home safely Thursday night...although I did leave the keys in the car and the car unlocked. (At least I put the steering wheel lock on!)

[edit: Finally remembered the final point I wanted to make.
10) There were lots of "lets make fun of Paul because he was in DAAS" jokes. They were funny.]

...maybe because the male seahorse is the one who has the children, therefore taking the woman's role, and ... being ... womanly ... ????

Yeh, I pondered that while the song went on. That was about as close as I could come to sense, too.

Did you get the cd's from nat?

I forgotted, you need the divx 5 codec. It's 3mb, otherwise I'd email it.

You could try a google search - heaps of sites offer divx codec downloads. Lots of different versions, and in all likelihood the one you need. =)

most of them only need divx 4, but the second disk will probably need divx 5

Meh. As I said before, I'll worry about it when I get them off Nat.

I believe it has something to do with the shape of 'tuck'.

Don't quote me on that though.

Looked up Seahorse Society on the web and emailed them the question.
This was the reply:

Subject: Re: Just a quick question

Andrew,
We can thank our club secretary Rosemary for this name. It was selected when the club began 32 years ago because male seahorses were thought to change sex to female as they got older. In fact it was discovered more recently that they don't change sex, but that the male takes the fertilised eggs from the female and carries them until they are hatched. But we don't plan to change the name as it's still appropriate.

PS. We can also be thankful that the other club members at the time voted against Rosemary's suggestion to use the scientific name for Seahorse, because then we would have been the "Hippocanthus Society".

Thanks for clearing my mind! That's much better than Liam's suggestion. Phew... it's what I supposed, after all.
