Nov. 23rd, 2002 11:50 pmTop 10 part two's out too.
I have what my father calls the "Catalogue Gene". Information fits in my head by connecting itself with as many other facts and factoids as it can.
I was rereading Sandman's The Wake tonight, and I found what I thought was an allusion to the Discworld:
Trade paperback, Page 59, frame 3:
Lucien: Do you know Bhartari Raja? This is the Bhartari Raja. Old, old friend of mine. Bhartari, Matthew.
Bhartari: Pleas, no. Not Bhartari, Lucien. I am presently living under the name of Silas Tomken Cumberbatch, like Winnie the Pooh and Mister Saunders.
Silas Cumberbatch, of course, is the former town crier who wants to join the Watch in Men At Arms. I've Googled the name, and apparently the full version is a pseudonym used by Coleridge (according to the Sandman Annotations. (However, according to a different page, Coleridge's pseudonym's middle name is spelt Tomkin.)
Sat down with Androo & Steven tonight and watched Harry Potter (and Philosopher's Stone - CoS doesn't come out until Thursday in Aus). 'Twas the first time they'd seen it - a travesty!

Date: 2002-11-23 07:36 pm (UTC)I'm rereading Top 10 at the moment. Fun fun fun.
For the record, I gave Luke Usagi Yojimbo: Grasscutter for his birthday, so if you want to borrow borrow League for a long enough period of time to let you reread it several times that's fine.
Shall I bring it on Tues?
