Had very cool comment on Sandra's post about Romeo and Juliet lost forever because of a *&%$$% computer crash. Not impressed at all.

I don't understand why Lucas used the name "Luke Skywalker", to me an obvious allusion to Loki in his movies "Star Wars", as Luke is a safe, everyman sort of character, who doesn't have any of the dangerousness or mischief of Loki. Loki is a Trickster figure, an Antihero. Luke is a Good o' Boy, to use Anita Blake's phrasing.

I'm *so* not a huge George Lucas fan, but I think there would be more allusions that you would think. For the entire of Episode 2 you could see how much he'd copied from the world around us...

They're not actually all coincidental. Lucas stole shamefully from King Arthur and also Lord of the Rings. The name of the Ewok's planet of Endor is the Elvish (quenya if you're going to be pedantic) name for Middle Earth, devised by Tolkein.

Hence his hackdom. He apparently also, ahem, *borrowed* a bucketload from some film released years before his, but the details are hazy in my mind.

Alls I know is, 'allusions' or 'unoriginalities', he sucks mightily at the film-making business right now, and as still one of the richest men imaginable. Damnit.
