I'm about ready to scream.

I finished that animated icon for deadspiders last night, but neither of us can get LJ to upload it. Why? Only god knows.

So I decided to redo it in Imageready (I'd originally done it in Fireworks). However. While IR allows me to make an animation, I can't actually save it. It wants to export it as a jpg, and if I try and change it to indexed colour [via Photoshop], in a vain hope that it'll actually give me the option of saving it as a gif, it flattens the layers (the way I animated it), and suddenly it's not an animation anymore.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Anyone got some IR tricks, where they can tell me how to trick the program into saving it as a gif for me?

:( Don't stress yourself over it - I appreciate that you made the icon for me at all. I don't want it to become a big horrible stressful thing. If worst comes to worst, I'll send the icon you made to someone else and ask if they can convert it and make it work. It will work, somehow! But not at the cost of your sanity. Thanks so much for everything - this is above and beyond the call, serious. :)

File->Save Optimised As?

I like Imageready. Not as easy to use as Photoshop for some reason though.

It wasn't working. Don't worry, I worked out what the problem was. :D

Nonono, I'm stubborn. I'll Get This To Work, unless I lose interest, which'll take a day or two, at least. ;)

I'm interested -- what WAS the problem?

I was assuming that the option of saving the file as a gif or jpg was in the Save dialogue, but it wasn't. It was in one of those boxy things to the right of the actual drawing space. Those little boxes I usually ignore...

Yeah. Who the hell puts the file type in a toolbox?

It's save optimized as. I'm sure somebody's already told you, but I'm too lazy to look at the comments.

No, I tried that. It didn't work. I had to change the file type, which was for some reason in a toolbox rather than a save dialogue box.

Mrph. Maybe they changed something. I only really started using ImageRedy when I got Photoshop 7, so.... *lix* I sorry.

It's all good. I fixed the problem, anyway. :D
