I've felt a bit crap about work recently. A whole lot of that has been the dead-end projects I've been on. One is now this close to going off to the printer (I got the CIP today, which helped), and the other is typeset and cover-designed (by me!), and I can (by insistence of my boss) forget about that one for the time being, or at least until I hear otherwise. This makes me feel better, as does the fact that I have new projects being lined up. And I cleaned out my in-tray, which was overflowing, created a mini bookshelf at the back of my desk for all the books that were causing it to be thus, and cleared off my desk of random bits of paper that are not mine. I got myself a handful of cheap, crappy biros (the only sort around here) to replace all those that have mysteriously gone missing, and a notepad exclusively for taking notes from phone calls, and other random miscellanea. The notepad I already had is used to take production meeting notes and to write to-do lists, and lives in my inbox.
I feel much better now. Much more in control. Ah, what some stationery and a tidy desk can do.
