(no subject)

Just watched the most amusing (and in a certain part, rather slashy) movie. 'Twas called the Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, and as I discovered later, it was actually directed by Billy Wilder. A couple of choice quotes:

Watson: (in regards to the thought that slander might be being spread about him and Holmes, but the remark is seemingly apropos of nothing) Maybe we should get married.
Holmes: That would really get them talking.

Watson: Holmes, I hope I'm not being presumptuous, but... there have been women in your life, haven't there?
Holmes: The answer is yes.
(Watson breathes a sigh of relief)
Holmes: You're being presumptuous. Good night.

It also has the most sinister and damning recitation of the word "midgets" ever.


In other news...

...no WONDER I kept thinking the gent in Around the World in 80 Days was familiar. He's Steve Coogan. Who was Mole in the Practically-Monty-Python Wind in the Willows, and who (and I had not connected these dots until viewing imdb) played Alan Partridge in Knowing Me, Knowing You. (He also, as Phineas Fogg, reminds me of David Battley, who played Charlie's teacher in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but that's neither here nor there.)

Oh my god, I'm dead.

*Makes a groaning noise like someone being rudely awakened from a 20 year lie-in in a coffin* Spent about eight hours with Steph, cleaning Liam's house. My back, she hurts like a hurty thing. And I have nausea from all the cleaning products I have been inadvertently inhaling. And the chocolate Liam bought us on the way home, because he is a wonderful boy whom we love. Otherwise we wouldn't be doing it.

Am still unable to recognise polenta when I see it. At least I think it was polenta. I don't remember. In my defence, I would have only had it for the first time last year.

Will attempt to catch up on flist and so forth this weekend. There's a couple of things by weaselbeast and billradish in particular that I want to catch up on. Am too dead to do it tonight, and tomorrow I am going to Epicure. And having a Visible Ink meeting. And we're also doing more cleaning in Liam's house. Not necessarily in that order.
