adj.: wanting to avoid activity or exertion; lazy.
ORIGIN Latin, from in- ‘not’ + dolere ‘suffer or give pain’.1
I should be doing numerous things today: working on my Editing Assignment, due in part this Thursday; working on my work for Photography; designing the website for The Fat Lady Digest; hell, even working on my novel. I'm doing none of these.
Though I may start on the website, the least necessary of these.

How strange that the origin is sort of opposite to the current meaning. How do you think it happened? Is laziness so painful that...well, ok I suppose it is sometimes.
