Okay, I found the dress I want for the Masquerade... ;)Discovered today that groups.yahoo.com is blocked from uni, as well as yahoo mail and hotmail. Feh. Had to wait until I came home to make a post to the coven newsgroup only to find that Sara'd already done it. Ah well.
I have the headcold of D00M. Can't wait until Friday when I can sleep in and be sick. Until then, work, uni, fencing, work. I'll get to sleep on Thursday evening too, which will be nice. Stupid sinuses. They're all inflame-y, and either my nose is dripping like a tap, or doing a good impression of a preschooler's nose blocked with play dough. And I'm sneezing explosively. Nothing stops a discussion in a tute like three or four really fecking loud sneezes. Tomorrow I'm bringing my saline spray in the hope that it'll help keep it clear.
I got accused today in Editing of "asking the really hard questions". Um, okay. This is following on Short Story yesterday when a couple of people praised my literary knowledge. Oh, I just know a lot about Fairy Tales, I said (the topic of the lesson). No, they meant all the stuff I'd said last week, too. I'm all O.o because I really don't think I'm that well-read. Maybe I just make good use of my reading. Yeah, that sounds more likely.
Did the two assigned tasks in the first half hour of the Comp Skills lesson today. It's a bit of a joke, really. They required us to type up two documents as given to us, and use our knowledge of tabs etc to format them. I may not be the fastest typer ever, but I'm pretty damn fast compared to the usual plebe. I get a lot of practise, after all. And dammit, I already know how to use Word. I then wrote the cover letter that I was supposed to have written already, and then struggled with Word to get a Mail Merge done, which is one of the later tasks. I just typed up a sample form letter on behalf of the Masquerade Committee to send with tickets if we'd received payment by mail, then created fake names and addresses, or gave fictional characters such as Sherlock Holmes addresses in Victoria. The task requires that you create ten letters from the form and info. I think that's horrific overkill, but whatever. I doubt the letter'll ever get used by the Masquerade Committee, but the teacher hadn't given me any instruction on what he wants for mail merge, as we aren't doing that for about two weeks, and I just had to make something up. If it's everything he wants I can just hand that in. If not, well, I taught myself how to create a mail merge on Word for Mac, and independant learning is a wonderful thing.
I hate the fact that you cannot reboot a Mac by pressing a reboot button. This is very frustrating when said Mac contemplates its navel for about five to ten minutes.
I ate the rest of the peanut butter soup today. For breakfast. And I brought some to uni. And I ate some when I got home. This is quite probably overkill. Tastes good, though. I should probably go and find something else to eat and then crash. Early start tomorrow.
Think I might skip fencing tomorrow. Really need to be there to learn the new bit, but I feel so sick and I'm not sure I have any suitable trousers or shorts that are clean. Considering I have one pair of shorts that I'd be willing to wear to fencing, and about... *thinks* one pair of trousers, I'm not really spoiled for choice.
My grandfather (Dar) is a little better. They put off the surgery in the end, and think he'll only need minor surgery. This is excellent news.
Bought my first text today. Cost me just over $25. Good thing my course isn't heavy on the texts, because I need another job with more hours before I can afford many more texts.
Ohgod I don't want to get up tomorrow. Bleargh. But considering I'm just scraping by without luxuries as it is, I
REALLY can't afford to not go to work. I'm a temp, and so don't get sick leave.
